Now I'm starting a second one to force myself to use them by playing an evil character. Honestly playing good and playing evil can feel like entirely different play styles and it's a shame there's no morality system to make players pick one way or another outside of roll playing.įirst playthrough I didn't use any curses. But with a robust point distribution into dark arts, imperio, crucio and more common spells can create a phenomenally impressive avadra kedavra chain effect. Crucio is powerful stopper and with upgrades can deal some real damage. Unforgivables completely alter play style, imperio can turn a combat instance into a sitting back and just sitting back and watching chaos unfold. In my second go around as a dark wizard Gryffindor I learned 2 valuable lessons, first speed rush the story skipping side quests and exploration until you have most of the unlocked spells and features and second get comfortable committing wizard crimes. Also on console with limited spell slots it kinda helps not having them because you get room for other spells. I played lawful good and don't regret it, the combat is engaging, creative and interesting enough entirely without them. So freaking cute.)įor role playing on my good guy Ravenclaw I didn't learn or use them my first go around. I've done a bunch of rescuing beasts, though, and am breeding a few, mainly because then I get to see the baby animals (and I squealed when I saw the baby Thestral and Niffler. It's kind of a Sims thing for me I guess, once I create a character I give them far more personality and traits than the game actually has, and try to stick with it because it's interesting to play for me that way. Again, weird, creepy vibes, even if a dang video game and fake. I'm also not really sure how Imperio actually works in this context, so I am curious. I decided this character wouldn't use them, or even learn them.īut next time or a different character I will, just to see, mainly. I know it's fake but I just got kind of creeped out about it. I'm still on my first playthrough, but I've not even learned any of them with this character (I've now had opportunity to learn them all, and I think you can meet Sebastian in the Undercroft and learn them later if you change your mind).
